Hide n Seek
I love this shot of a Bush Dog peeping out from its underground den. He was uncertain whether to come out and join the rest of the pack or not and he kept popping in and out before finally making the decision to come out to play.
These little creatures are really playful and it is fun to watch them running around often playing a game of follow the leader but here it is much more a game of hide n seek.

Striking A Pose
These Bush Dogs really are so cute and catching them out running around making the most of the winter sun was such a treat.
They are almost constantly on the move though and they rarely seem to stop so when these two paused momentarily I was lucky enough to capture the moment. Reviewing these images I thought how they were striking a model pose, especially the second one where he was looking directly at the camera.

Cats and Dogs...
I have recently posted a lovely photo of a cheetah but yesterday when I went to the zoo I managed to get some really great shots the first of today's offering being one.
The second shot is a dog, a Bush Dog and they are unbelievably cute. Apparently they have a very wide range in the wild but they are extremely rare so to see such a healthy group at Chester Zoo is really nice.

By The Waterside
Bush Dogs and Otters for your pleasure today.
I have always liked otters and it has been an ambition of mine to see them in the wild ever since I read the book Ring Of Bright Water as a child. I once caught a glimpse of one swimming in Strasbourg but it was a fleeting glimpse and doesn't really count and I hope that at some point in the near future I will spot one and have enough time to capture a shot or two. In the meantime this picture of three Giant Otters basking in the winter sun at Chester Zoo will have to do.
I also really like the Bush Dogs in the first two pictures. They nest in burrows and seem to spend a fair bit of time underground so it was a treat to see them running around and pausing to take a drink from the pool.
