The Great Ridge

The first of today's images is of Mam Tor at the far end of the great ridge seen from Back Tor a dramatic rock outcrop that overlooks Edale which can be seen spread out before us in the second image. On the skyline on the far left of the image Kinder Scout is also visible.

Baa Ram Ewe...

The pictures for today and tomorrow were taken on a walk in the Derbyshire Peak District with my boys back in 2009.  We headed up to Mam Tor also known as "Shivering Mountain" near Castleton.

We walked along the path in the top picture with cracking views across Edale.  Along the way we stopped to eat our picnic lunch and were greeted enthusiastically by a few very friendly sheep with the one in these pictures being the most forward.  I remember sitting on Mam Tor many years ago with my daughter when she was about 4 and one of the sheep pinched her sandwich out of her hand. With that in mind the boys and I held on to our lunches this time.
