A Little Blue

I almost walked past these little white flowers but then I noticed the delicately scalloped edges with a slight bluish hue and the beautiful central cluster.

These are so elegant and beautiful.

These are white Hydrangea and the blue bud will eventually open out into a star shape revealing the delicate stamen

Bitter sweet

I love chocolate it is good for you, I love flowers too so when I spotted this beautiful Chocolate Cosmos I had to get a picture. It is such a  rich and warm brown just like chocolate and in the summer sun it looked absolutely glorious. The flower is not fully out but it still caught my eye.

Red Gazania

After incorrectly identifying a flower the other day I was especially careful to research today's' specimen to avoid any embarrassment.

It is, I can confidently say a Red Gazania. Photographing red flowers is quite tricky because it can be difficult to get a true representation of the colour but I think I got this one spot on.

The second shot was a bit of a bonus as I had focused in on the centre of the flower to pick out the detail in the heart of the flower and I hadn't noticed the aphid at first but I am quite plesed that I captured the little critter, it gives a sense of scale as well as being a cool shot.

Common Beauty

Over the weekend I found these beautiful Common Spotted Orchids in a meadow on the shore of Colemere. I had never seen so many orchids growing in one place and mixed in with masses of buttercups and other wildflowers it was a wonderful scene.

Roses Are Red pt1

Of course roses are not always red, they come in all sorts of colours and varieties and the vibrant colours combined with a luxurious perfume make these really wonderful flowers.

My favourite from this selection is the fourth one which I recall had a sweet but delicate scent and I really like the colour and the arrangement of the petals. I also like the central whorl on the third image.

I took these pictures in the Rose Garden at Leif Erikson park in Duluth. I had read about this as being one of the things to see in Duluth and I was surprised to see so many varieties out on display. It was cold and windy so looking through my shots I was not surprised to see that many of the flowers were a little blurry around the edges but that being said I think I still managed to get a few decent ones worth sharing. There will be more for another day but for today please enjoy these.

Pink, White & Blue

Canon 100mm f 1:2.8

ISO 100   f/3,5   1/160 sec

ISO 100  f/3.5   1/100 sec

ISO 100  f/3.5  1/200 sec

So actually it is blue, pink and white but I don't think it matters what order I list them they're all really beautiful, but I think they're in my order of preference.

I hope you like them too.

I really like this time of year when there is so much new life and vibrant colour in our gardens. It helps put the cold and dreary winter months to the back of my mind and I can look forward to the warmer months which offer more opportunities to get outdoors.
