These images show the lower bridge below Aira Force in Matterdale. There was still some mist overhead mixed with the spray from the waterfall. The rock surfaces were extremely slippery and the path across the bridge was treacherous but braving the elements was certainly worth it given the wonderful photos that I captured.

Pie Island and an Eagle
So the first two shots are of Pie Island viewed across Lake Superior from the boardwalk at Mission Marsh. It was just after sunrise and the face of the mountain has a rich glow and the lighthouse on Mission Bay also has an early morning glow.
I like the view from the boardwalk as it give a sense of scale and perspective but I also like the second "close up" shot because you can make out a little more detail in the landscape.
The third shot is of one of the small islands between Mission Marsh and the Sleeping Giant. I shared it for two reasons, firstly because on the sky, I love the layers of clouds illuminated by the rising sun but also because of the trees silhouetted against the sky and if you look carefully you can see a bald eagle perched in one of the trees. I had watched fly across the lake and take up this vantage point to fish for its first meal of the day.

Dawn Reflections on Derwent Water
As with yesterday's image the original file was a bit dull and flat although the overall composition as you can see is very nice with the jetties reflected in the still water and the snowy hills in the background.
I was keen to see if I could make something of the image and I think I have done a decent job. There is now a nice warm tone to the overall image and with a little adjustment to the clarity there is more detail particularly in the centre of the shot where you can see the boathouse on Derwent Isle.

Morning Reflections
I had gone to Dunham Massey specifically to photograph the resident Fallow Deer and if you haven't seen them yet take a look at my blog posts from the past two days because I am really pleased with some of those pictures, especially the third image I shared yesterday.
But as I walked up the path to the park I was blown away by the colours of the early morning sky and the lovely reflections. I have selected a couple of shots for today and I have another for tomorrow.
The first shot shows a view of the old stable block and clock tower with a beautiful sky behind it.
The second shot shows the house itself with the "lake" in the foreground. There is so much to like about this image; the colours in the sky give a warm glow and the promise of a nice day and these colours are reflected throughout the image especially in the bottom of the picture. I also really love the trees which together with their reflection make an almost perfect circle as if it was shot through a sphere. I think this is a really beautiful picture.

Morning Glow
So yesterday I posted a black and white shot of the waterfront at West Kirby and I mentioned the lovely colours in the morning sky, and today I have decided to post a different view looking across the marine lake in colour so that you can see for yourself the glorious sunrise.
This was a fairly long exposure, as long as I dared given that it was hand held and low light, so that there is a nice effect on the water's surface and the delicate pastel shades of the sky are really beautiful. The moon is also just visible as a bright spot high in the sky.
It was -3C (26F) and so my fingers quickly got numb, all the same I think it was worth it and for the next two hours I made the most of the perfect light to get some great shots.

Fishing at First Light
A variation on yesterday's theme here is another shot of the harbour at sunrise but today I have a fishing party heading out to Lake Superior, perhaps on the hunt for some nice fresh Pickerel.
The guys on the boat were aware that I was taking the shot, I am not too sure they were that pleased but I think it makes a good picture and I wished them well on their way.
