Big, Bigger, Biggest
I think that this flower is a white Cosmo and it is really stunning especially when you get up close and see the detail. That is the beauty of using a macro lens, you can get in really close and bring out the fine detail that otherwise you would miss.
There is so much beauty in this flower from the delicate white petals with their gently scalloped edges, the folds where the petals meet in the centre and the colours and shapes in the central cluster of stamen and the tiny grains of pollen.
Apparently they are a big hit with bees and butterflies, I can see why.

Climbing The Walls
A couple of weeks ago I visited Pembroke Castle. There are high walls, narrow passages, a huge circular keep and a wogan (more of that later in the week)Although I have some pretty decent shots of the castle itself I wanted to share these pictures of flowers that were growing in the cracks in the mortar of the walls.
I have tried to identify the two types of flower but I haven't been able to so if anybody can help me out I will be very grateful, I have included a crop of the tiny purple ones to make it easier...

Blooms from Bodnant 2
I was able to identify yesterday's plant quite quickly and easily but today I have had much more trouble and I have to admit defeat. This shrub with delicate white buds was growing in the shade of a laburnum. I think I am going to have to do a bit more research to find out what it is.
