... the Ivy
I don't know about you but when I think Ivy I think Green (a bit like the second of today's images) but how about the lovely rich colours in the first shot, there is so much red and so many shades of green it is simply beautiful.
These pictures of Towneley Hall, in Burnley show the lovely architecture. The house is set in beautiful grounds which since 1902 have been a public park, and the first shot shows a superb reflection of the house in the reflecting pool in one of the more secluded corners of the formal garden. There are some great flower beds, quite walks around the wild garden and the house itself is a museum so all in all its well worth a visit.
I love the colour of the stonework and the ivy is a lush green however I have chosen to show the final picture in black and white because I think it works well.
Before I add pictures today I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported my daily blog so far.
Yesterday I passed 20,000 page views which is a terrific milestone and the pictures I have posted have been viewed all around the world with the USA, the UK and South Korea being the top three viewing countries.
So thank you again and I hope you keep coming back...
I have posted similar pictures to these before but I really like the gnarly vines as they cling to the tree and I love the fresh green of the ivy. I particularly like the final picture and the way the ivy stem cuts across the diagonal pattern in the bark.
So the title of today's post might have made you think my choice of pictures would be of spiders or some creepy mini-beast. However you will have seen that its actually creeping plants. I really like the gnarly shapes and forms but these creepers were strangling the life out of their host trees.
I think these shots work well in black and white and I really like the second of today's photos. I have rotated the picture through 90 degrees and i think it creates a very strong image
So its a mass of green and texture today.
The first of today's images is moss growing on the trunk of a tree. The whole trunk was covered from roots to branches. I took this picture because with the contours of the bark the mossy covering looks almost like a forest canopy over hills and valleys. I like the texture and the different areas of light and shade.
The second shot of the ivy, growing on a stone wall caught my eye because of the way the leaves had caught the sun through the shade of the trees. I like the waxy appearance of the leaves and the shapes and colours.
