The other day my neighbour called to say that the poppies in her front garden were fully opened so i nipped round to get a few shots.
They are really beautiful specimens with vibrant colours and light delicate petals.
As well as the poppy there was a lone dandelion seed head and lit from behind by the evening sun I think it looks stunning.
After the flowers come the seeds and after the seeds ...
Although these plants have died and will be replaced by fresh new plants come the spring the structure that remains is still interesting and noteworthy, but because it is past its prime it is easily overlooked. A closer look reveals the beautifully intricate structure that supports the flowers. I hope you will agree that it is sometimes worth taking a second look.
Normally I would try to avoid lens flare however every now and then it can work to good effect as I think it does in today's pictures of this reed head with its seeds ready to blow away on the wind.
