The Light at Split Rock
Yesterday we saw the interior of the lighthouse and the lens that projected the light across the lake at 10 second intervals.
Today here are three views of the lighthouse itself perched high on the cliffs and you can see why it was so important to have a light to assist the safe passage of ships along this stretch of the lake.

Coastal Erosion
I didn't post anything yesterday as I was camping in North Yorkshire with the intention of getting some more pictures for my blog but the weather was dreadful and so no new pictures I'm afraid however, I did have a good time regardless of the weather, I just love being outdoors.
Anyway for today I have chosen a few more pictures of the cliffs at New Quay showing the layers and the intricate structure of the rocks. I wonder how long it has taken to achieve such a marvelous spectacle as a result of the erosive effects of the wind, rain and sea on this rocky coastline.
These are the last pictures from my day in New Quay and tomorrow and in the days to come I have a real treat in store from a trip to Skomer so be sure to come back and see...

Castlegregory, Eire
In 2011 I took a holiday in County Kerry in Ireland, more precisely on the Dingle Peninsula . The weather while we were away was pretty dull for most of the time, but on the one fine day I got these shots near Castlegregory, the first is taken looking towards Camp and Tralee, the second is a view of Brandon Mountain. I had a good time clambering over the rocks and dodging the spray.
The road over the mountain to Dingle on the opposite side of the peninsula was quite a hair raising drive in very poor conditions, not something I would do again except in very good weather.
Over the next few days I will select a few more pictures from the trip.
