Cwm Idwal and Devils Kitchen

These are the last two shots from my trip to Cwm Idwal that I will post. At the end of the day my daughter and I sat on some rocks on the shore of the lake, enjoying the late afternoon sun, the cool breeze and these stunning views.

Purple Mountain Flower

When preparing for my walk I considered what lenses I was likely to need and I very nearly decided to reduce the weight of my pack by leaving my macro lens at home.  I was so glad however that I didn't because when I found this tiny flower only my macro lens would do.

It was growing in an area of very boggy ground and so I got wet knees as I got down close enough to get the shot but I think it was definitely worth it.  I am not sure what variety of plant it is but I will do a little more research to try and identify it, but in the meantime if anybody out there can tell me I will be very grateful.

Hard Heart

Just one picture for today, and anyone who has seen my blog from the start will know that I like to capture images of hearts in nature, whether that is in plants or pebbles or whatever I suppose I try to collect as many as I can.  This heart shaped rock was actually quite large and the shape could only be properly viewed from directly above. Fortunately I was able to stand on an adjacent rock to get the right angle.

On The Rocks

Today's selection shows a few of the rock formations along the walk around Cwm Idwal. I am always interested in the structure and form of rocks in the landscape and even small formations as in the first picture can be interesting subjects for photography.
